DAY 1: Nairobi / Nanyuki / Old Moses
Your adventure will start at 7 am from your hotel in Nairobi. Together with your guide you will be heading from Nairobi to Nanyuki via public transport. After around a 3 hours drive, you will arrive in Nanyuki town. Your long awaited first hike will start from Sirimon gate. Be ready for a 3 – 4 hours hike (9 kms) to Old Moses camp, where you will acclimatize in 3300 m and spend your first night. On the way to your camp you will discover the first changes of vegetation.
DAY 2: Old Moses / Shiptons
Today you need your full power and agility to counter a 6 – 8 hours hike to Shipton’s camp (4200 m) through the adventurers and beautiful Likii North Valley (3900 m). Climb out the North Valley into the Mackinders Valley with a great view of the main peaks and stopover for picnic lunch. Afterwards you need to focus for another 3 hours hike to Shipton`s camp. On arrival, you will take a cup of tea before you get served with dinner.
Day 3: Shipton Camp / Point Lenana / Judmaier
Very early in the morning at 3 am you will kick off to the highest peak Point Lenana (4985 m) and hike through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns. This is the most challenging bit of trekking Mount Kenya. You need a strong mind to reach to the summit. You will arrive summit Point Lenana at 6:30 am, which is the perfect time to watch the sunrise and to take pictures to capture the fascinating moment. Prepare yourself to descend down back to Shipton Camp for another 2 hours hike, where you will get your breakfast served. Refreshed you will trek down to Judmaier Camp for dinner and overnight. In total, today you will have managed to hike 21 km.
Day 4: Judmaier / Nairobi
After your breakfast, you will walk down through the rainforest for a 2 – 3 hours hike (9km) to Sirimon gate, where you will connect with your transport vehicle back to Nairobi.
